California MyFirstEV
Incentives for First-Time Zero-Emission Vehicle Drivers
California’s MyFirstEV program is designed to help first-time
zero-emission vehicle buyers and lessees reduce the upfront
cost of making the switch to electric transportation.
About the Program
MyFirstEV is a California Air Resources Board program designed
to make zero-emission vehicles more affordable for people
purchasing or leasing a ZEV for the first time.
California is partnering with participating vehicle
manufacturers. The manufacturer matches the state’s
contribution, creating a combined point-of-sale incentive for
eligible vehicles and consumers.
The incentive is intended to reduce the upfront cost of an
eligible vehicle rather than requiring the customer to wait
for a rebate after the purchase.
Consumer Eligibility
Potential Savings
For participating manufacturers, California’s contribution is
matched by the automaker to create the total consumer incentive
on eligible new zero-emission vehicles.
Vehicle Eligibility
Eligible battery-electric vehicles may qualify when offered
through a manufacturer participating in MyFirstEV.
Eligible hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles are also
considered zero-emission vehicles under the program.
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are not eligible for
MyFirstEV because they have gasoline engines that produce
tailpipe emissions.
Current vehicle requirements:
Eligible vehicles must meet current California MyFirstEV
requirements. Model-year, MSRP, manufacturer participation and
other restrictions may apply.
How It Works
Review current MyFirstEV information and confirm that your
preferred manufacturer and vehicle are participating.
Confirm that you meet California residency and first-time
ZEV buyer or lessee requirements.
Select an eligible new zero-emission vehicle offered through
a participating manufacturer.
When available and approved, the incentive is designed to
be applied at the point of sale to lower the upfront cost
of the vehicle.
Additional EV Savings
MyFirstEV may be combined with other eligible vehicle
incentive programs when both the customer and vehicle meet
the requirements of those programs.
Eligibility, stacking rules and funding availability are
determined independently by each program.
Explore Electric Vehicles
Our team can help you explore Hyundai electric vehicles
and explain current manufacturer offers as MyFirstEV
availability is announced.
Because MyFirstEV eligibility and eligible models are
established by CARB and participating manufacturers,
incentive availability should be confirmed before making a
purchase or lease decision.
